The Dallas Cowboys have now filled all the voids created when the Miami Dolphins raided their coaching staff, hiring Reggie Herring as linebackers coach.
The linebackers coach job opened when Paul Pasqualoni left for the Dolphins to work for former Cowboys offensive line coach and current Dolphins head coach Tony Sparano. Two other 2007 Cowboys assistants, Todd Bowles and Kacy Rodgers, also followed Sparano from Cowboys to Miami.
Herring leaves after just a month as defensive coordinator at Texas A&M; before that he was the interim head coach at Arkansas in the Cotton Bowl, and before that he was the defensive coordinator at Arkansas. In the latter job Herring was one of the highest-paid assistant coaches in college football, thanks in large part to the donations from Arkansas alum and Cowboys owner Jerry Jones. Now Herring will be cashing a paycheck from Jones without needing a middleman. The Cowboys can now concentrate on the NFL draft, and next year.
