NFL teamThe Vikings could be without Pro Bowl running back Adrian Peterson on Sunday.
Peterson was limited in Friday's practice because of a hamstring injury and is listed as questionable on the injury report for the game against Carolina. The questionable designation means there is a 50-50 chance Peterson will play.

All team sports information reports that Peterson, who leads the NFL in rushing with 263 yards in two games, began to feel tightness in his hamstring late in last Sunday's loss against Indianapolis. He was limited in practice Wednesday and did not take part in Thursday's session.

Even if Peterson does play for his NFL team, veteran Chester Taylor figures to get far more rushing attempts than the 4.5 carries he has averaged in the first two games. "I'm not excited that he's hurt," said Taylor, who rushed for 1,216 yards in 2006. "(But) it's always a good feeling to go out there and play as much as I can to help my NFL team win. Whatever they want me to do, I'm going to go out there and do it."

Childress said the Vikings "don't lose a step" with Taylor. Childress clearly isn't going to risk losing his superstar for the long term because of a significant hamstring pull.

Peterson, who did not speak to reporters Friday before heading to the trainer's room, likely will do some work on the field Sunday morning for his NFL team before a decision is made.

Last season, Peterson finished second in the NFL with 1,341 yards rushing on 238 carries but missed two NFL team games because of a torn lateral collateral ligament in his right knee.

He dropped to the seventh pick of the 2007 draft because of concerns about his ability to stay healthy. Peterson played only one complete season during his three years at Oklahoma and missed time because of ankle, shoulder and collarbone injuries.
