Sports are an important part of daily life, and many people get a lot of entertainment from watching them, and from participating in sports, even as children. Childhood obesity is a real problem in this country, and sports are a good way to ameliorate that problem. Getting kids interested in sports and regular exercise is vital to their life long health. Sports build stronger bones, muscles, and teach children teamwork and cooperation. Learning healthy competition as children helps children learn to function in the real world while they are young. Winning is just one aspect of participating in sports. The biggest take away for kids in sports at school is the experience they get working with others to support a common goal, and learning to do their best at something they enjoy.
Schools are financially challenged right now, so if your school is sponsoring a fundraiser to raise money for sports, consider contributing because the kids are doing much more than just running around, playing a structured game with each other. They are learning life skills that will help them get ahead in the world and get along with others. |
