My brother called me this morning to tell me that he’d finally been able to sit down with his son and talk to him about which sports he did and didn’t want to play this upcoming school year. My nephew has always loved sports and ever since he’s been able, he’s wanted to play them all. He’s been an avid golfer since he was 4 and as soon as he started elementary school he started playing in every single sport offered. He’s great in most of them, but it keeps them constantly on the go, and my brother is ready to slow down a little so they can have time to do other things aside from sports. He asked his son to choose one of the sports that he thought he could live without, and he chose basketball. My brother said that it would mean that he didn’t have to order anything for basketball this year, but he had a long list for the other sports and he’d be placing an order online soon since the prices for shoes and uniforms and such were much cheaper online. At least now they should have a little more time as a family to do other things.
