Heading Into the NBA Playoffs the Right Way |

There is something like 10 games left in the 2009-10 regular NBA season and just when I thought I had the post season ranking lined up, out came upsets and big wins. That is the game of basketball. In the NBA, a team can have nearly four full quarters of great ball but in the last ten seconds lose it to a clutch shooter like Kobe. It keeps me glued to the screen until the last whistle blows. As much as I loved the NFL playoffs last season, this year’s NBA hunt for the championship is going to be insane. Top analysts are saying it will be the Lakers and Cavs at the end. Many think the Lakers will win it all because how outstanding they have been the last minute of the game. I shouldn’t say “they” Kobe has bailed them out of a bunch of near loses.
Unlike the regular NFL season, NBA games are on almost every single day so it is hard to plan a guy’s get together around it. Pretty much every Sunday through the NFL playoffs, I went over to a friend’s house where we made nachos, wings and pizza washed down with assorted beers. There have only been a few times I’ve done the same thing for an NBA game this season. It may be because the only Phoenix Suns supporters I know live a solid 45 minutes away without traffic (I live in LA).
The NBA post season is much easier to plan a day around. I just found the perfect tool for playoff parties at Shop Sports Warehouse at http://www.shopsportswarehouse.com/. Seen in the picture above, the Haier BrewMaster Draft Beer Dispenser makes me want to grab a cold one out of the fridge just looking at it. And no I’m not an alcoholic. I’m convinced LeBron will lead his team quickly to the finals. What is up in the air, for me, is the Western Conference showdowns. Pretty much every team in the top 7 is great. While many think LA has this conference in the bag, I’m not convinced. Just look at the standings, at the moment Denver, Utah and Dallas are all in contention to take top spot if LA starts losing and they keep winning. What I’m really hoping for is the Suns take the fourth seed. I see the Jazz falling back in the ranks by the time, 5 games remain in the season.
